     Edward Glanville was born before 1734.
     He married Elizabeth Leeton on 14 December 1756 at St John the Evangelist parish church, Smith Square, Westminster, MDX, ENG, he of this parish, her of St Margaret Westminster. Recorded Bachelor and Spinster. Married by licence. Both signed the register. Witnesses James Sexton, Benjamin Glanvill.
     He died on 8 April 1797 at Abingdon, OXF, ENG; reported in the Reading Mercury 10 Apr 1797:
On Saturday evening last died, at Abingdon, Mr. Edward Glanvill, of St. Margaret's, Westminster, aged 66 years : He lived esteemed, and died lamented, for he was a sincere friend, a cheerful companion, and an honest man

clear that he is the writer of and one of the subscribing
witnefses to the last will and testament of Edward Glanvill
late of the Broad Sanctuary in the parish of Saint
Margaret Westminster in the County of Middlesex
deceased hereunto annexed bearing date the first day
of october in the year of our lord one thousand seventeen
hundred and ninety four and the deponent having now
viewed the several interlineations appearing in the said
will (***) Executors in trust for my said daughters
and to be placed out by them at interest in the
punblick ffunds and the interest dividence and product
thereof to be paid to her and during the term of
her natural life ( interlined before the nineenth
and twentieth line of the first sheet of the said will the words "and from
and after her decease the principal sum to go to such
person or persons as may said Daughter notwithstanding
her coverture shall by her last will and testament
appoint" interlined between the twenty second and twenty
third lines of the same sheet and the words "such respective
sums to be invested in the purchase of stock in the
publick ffunds in the names of my executors and be
transferred by them to my said daughters as soon after
my decease as reasonably may be " "Sterling" interlined
between the ten twenty third and twenty fforth lines
of the said sheet of the said will the deponent lastley
made oath that the interlineation were made by this
deponent by the direction of the said deceased previous
to execution of the said will and that the said
is now the plight and condition as when executors
by the said deceased as his last will and testament
saw and axcept the *** (docat?) written at the ffoot of the
said will on swearing the Executors therein named

This will was proved at London the twentieth
day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety seven before the worshipful
Maurice Swabey Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the
Right Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight also
Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commifsary of the
prerogative court of canterbury lawfully constituted
by the oaths of Henry Wood and George Kier by mistake
in the said will called Keir the Executors named in
the said will to whom adminstration of all and
singular the goods chattels and credits of the deceased
was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.

I Edward Glanvill
of the Broad Sanctuary Westminster but a present
residing at Clapham in the County of Surrey do make
this my last will and testament in manner and form
following (that is to say / I desire that all my just
debts ffuneral epenses and the expenses of proving
this my will may be paid by the executors herein
after named as soon after my decease as reasonably
may be I give and bequeath unto good ffriends Mr
Henry Wood of George Street in the parish of Saint
Margaret Westminster aforesaid and Mr George Kier
of Bridge Street oilman my Executors hereinafter
named the sum of ten pounds a piece for mourning I
likewise give and bequeath unto my worthy relation
the reverend William Clarke rector of Orpington
the Bible which I am now in pofsefsion of I also Give
and Bequeath unto my Nephew Jeremiah Glanvill
the sum of ten pounds for mourning & I likewise give
and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the wife
of Simon Stephenson the sum of two thousand pounds
after deducting thereout or therefrom all such sums and
sums of money as her said husband shall stand
indebted to me at the time of my deceased and also the
sum of ffifty pounds which I do hereby give and
bequeath unto him and which said sum subject to
such directions as aforesaid I do hereby give and

separate use notwithstanding her coverture and not to be

afsigns and it it my will and I do hereby direct athat
my said son shall carry on the businefs
which I now follow and that the stock in trade therein
shall not be disturbed or disposed of for the purpose
of paying the said legacies so given or bequeathed
unto my said daughters as aforesaid unlefs it shall
appear to my executors to be absolutaley neccefsary
and in such case it is my desire that it shall be so
disposed of as to as much advantage to my said
son as reasonably may be and it is also my will and
I do hereby likewise direct that all my household
ffurniture plate linen china and glass shall be
disposed of by my executors by public auction as
soon as resonably may be after my decease
and I do hereby exprefsly revoke
and make void all former and other wills by me heretofor
made and I declare this only to be my last will and
testament and I so nominate and appoint the said
Henry Wood and George Keir Executors thereof In witnefs
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first
day of October in the year of our lord one thousand seven
