William Victor Glanville was commissioned from the ranks of the Somerset Light Infantry into that same regiment in the Great War. He also served during the Second World War with the Royal Artillery and was at sometime a Special Constable (probably in Somerset). He enlisted in the West Somerset Yeomanry and was transferred to the Somerset Light Infantry on the 13th August, 1916. His commission dated from the 26th April, 1917. He served with the 1st Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry in France and Flanders from August to December, 1916 and with the 8th Battalion from 30th July, 1917. He was wounded with the 8th Battalion at Ypres on the 2nd October, 1917. His service with the Royal Artillery was from 18th December, 1940, until 17th September, 1952.William was married 2 times.
