Other information

     Family records state:
Samuel's grandmother or great-grandmother was Helen Morgan, daughter of a "Customs Man" in Crookhaven in the early 18th C (information from Customs Records of Establishment). He found only John Morgan, a boatman at Crookhaven 1743-77, who supposedly built a house at Yokehawn near Goleen. Helen married a Glanville who was said to be a ship's master or a copper miner - quite opposite roles - who deserted her, leaving her with a young child. We don't know if this child was Samuel's father or grandfather.
Samuel and Joan Hogerty had family historians recollect :
Samuel "had sons John, James, William, Thomas...Michael being the youngest."
Irish Reproductive Loan Fund for County Cork list:
Samuel Glanville of Kilmoe/Crookhaven - one shilling. Noted in 1850: "Was a poor laborer, died in 1847."
