Birth, Marriage and Death information

     John Glanville was born on 22 September 1716 at Tavistock, DEV, ENG; or Whitchurch.
     He was baptized on 9 October 1716 at Abbey Chapel, Presbyterian, Tavistock, DEV, ENG, also Whitchurch parish records John son of John and Sarah Glanvil was born the twenty second day of September 1716.
     He married Mellin Wilcocks on 11 May 1742 at the Parish Church, Whitchurch, DEV, ENG, (when age calculated as 25 years, 7 months and 19 days) John Glanvil & Mellin Wilcocks were married May ye 11th.
     He died after 1769.

Other information

     The John who married Mellin may have been John Glanvill, son of John Glanvill, buried 14 May 1716 Whitchurch.
     On 4 January 1747 named Mr John Glanvil or Mr Glanvil in baptism register of children, when all other fathers simply recording with name and no title. Implying at least land ownership such as faerm.
     John (when aged 51) was present at the marriage of Elizabeth Glanville and David Metters on 10 May 1768 at the Parish Church, Whitchurch, DEV, ENG; David Metters of the parrish of Walkhampton and Elizabeth GLanville fo this parish were married in the church by banns this tenth day of May in the year one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight, by me J Hornbrook curate.
He made a Mark, she signed.

     John (when aged 52) was present at the marriage of John Bone and Sarah Glanville on 6 June 1769 at the Parish Church, Whitchurch, DEV, ENG; John Bone of this parish and Srah Glanvill of this parish, by banns, both signed the register. In the presence of John Glanvill and Robert Matthew (the latter a witness to many marriages and hence probably a churchwarden.)
