Norman was born in San Francisco on August 20, 1923, to the late William and Grace Brock Glanville. Norman slipped away July 3, 2014 surrounded by love. He will be remembered for his intelligence, perseverance, generosity, fun loving personality and easy laugh. Norm is survived by his children, Jacqueline and Steven. A memorial service will be held on August 9, 2014, 11 am at Scott's, Jack London Square.

Norman Glanville was born in San Francisco on August 20, 1923, to the late William and Grace Glanville. Norman slipped away on July 3, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Palatine, Illinois, surrounded by love. Norman spent his formative years in San Jose and was later drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return, he attended City College of San Francisco, later moving his family to El Cerrito. Norman retired from the Oakland Naval Supply Center. Norman was involved with and supported many service organizations, including the NAACP. Norm enjoyed engaging in spirited debates on politics and current events, was an avid boxing and Bay Area sports fan, and was always ready for an outing with family and friends. He will be remembered for his intelligence, perseverance, generosity, fun loving personality and easy laugh. Norman's beloved wife, Ossie Ree and brother, Clifford Glanville, preceded him in death. Norman is survived by daughter Jacqueline Glanville-Powers (Styron) and son Steven (Elena) Glanville, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. A memorial celebration will be held on August 9, 2014, 11 am at Scott's, Jack London Square, Oakland.
