This is the last will and testament
of me Elizabeth Glanvill of No. 23 Peppercroft Street Gravesend in the County of Kent made this third day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty five Afer my decease I wish what household furniture I pofsefs to be sold also the house belonging to me situated at Upper Tulse Hill Brixton in the County of Surrey now in the pofsefsion of Mr Treneman carpenter and after my just debts are paid I wish the remainder of the proceeds to be divided as herein under mentioned I give and bequeath my brother Richard Glanvill of Park Road Brixton Surrey the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings to my nephew William Glanvill the son of my brother Richard the sum of ten pounds to Martha wife of the said William Glanvill ten pounds to my nephew James Glanvill the son of my brother Richard ten pounds to Charlotte wife of the said James Glanvill (in consideration of her kind attention to me during my late illnefs) the sum of ten pounds to Richard and William Allen sons of Anne Allen my niece the sum of five pounds each to Sarah McGavin daughter of the said William Glanvill the sum of five pounds to Catherine Cornford daughter of the said William Glanville the sum of five pounds five silver tea spoons and a pair of sugar tongs to Amelia Glanvill daughter of the said William Glanvill the sum of five pounds to my nephew John Glanvill son of my late brother John the sum of ten pounds to my niece Mary Ann Glanville daughter of my brother John the sum ten pounds to my nephew Thomas son of my brother John the sum of ten pounds to Emma Vincent daughter of William and Sarah Vincent of No. 9 Miles Lane London the sum of ten pounds to Mrs Sarah Vincent of No. 9 Miles Lane London my watch and tea caddy to Martha wife of William Glanvill two pairs of silver table spoons one pair of salt do and one mustard do also my black silk drefs and my best shawl to Mary Ann Glanvill daughter of my brother John six large tea spoons and sugar tongs the remainder of my clothes and household linen I wish to be equally divided between my three nieces Martha wife of William Glanvill Mary Ann daughter of my brother John and Elizabeth Thacker daughter of my brother Richard The watch now in pofsefsion of my brother Richard and belonging to me I wish to be given to his son James Glanvill should my nephew John Glanvill be deceased before his legacy becomes due I wish the said legacy to be given to his afflicted daughter and if there should be any overplus of money after the payment of the hereinbefore mentioned legacies I wish my nephew William Glanvill to receive it as a compensation for conducting my affairs and I appoint the said William Glanvill as my Executor. In the goods of Elizabeth Glanvill deceased
Appeared personally William Chipperfield of No. 7 Hereford Place Park Road Old Kent Road Peckham in the County of Surrey gentleman and made oath that he is one of the subscribed witnefses to the last will and testament (hereunto annexed) of the said Elizabeth Glanvill formerly of No.23 Peppercroft Street Gravesend in the County of Kent but late of Earcock (?) Street Gravesend aforesaid spinster deceased bearing date the third day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty five and that on the third day of August aforesaid the said testatrix duly executed her said will by signing or marking her mark or crofs at the foot or and thereof in the presence of this deponent and of Samuel Thomas Bryan the other subscribed witnefs thereto both & whom were present at the same time and this deponent and the said Samuel Thomas Bryan thereupon attested and subscribed the said will in the presence of the said testatrix and of each other and this deponent further made oath that reviewing the said will but more particularly to the words "and belonging to me" interlined between the eighth and ninth lines from the top of the third side thereof he saith that such interlineation was made and done in the said will prior to the execution thereof as aforesaid by the said Elizabeth Glanvill spinster the testatrix deceased - William Chipperfield - In the 7th day of May 1856 the said William Chipperfield was duly sworn to the truth of the aforegoing affidavit - before me W Robinson surr: - P Edwd Toller Not: Pub:
