     He died on 16 March 1943 in Philippines (when age calculated as 21); flying in Flying Fortress 41-24424 which ditched through running out of fuel ditching off Buna when returning from Wewak (Papua New Guinea) in poor weather. One of the crew survived the ditching but disappeared swming ashore, 7 were killed, 2 returned to duty.
Milburns station was not Navigator, Radio Operator, Co-Pilot nor Bombardier so he must have been one of the gunners.
     He was buried in 1943 at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines, Note this is a memorial and not his place of burial.
