On Sunday March 21, at Kelly Mills, a small farm on the Kelly Estate, aged 62 years, Mr. John Glanville. The brief history of this respected humble person, is another instance on the mutability of all human affairs - - linearly descended from the last surviving Representative of the elder Branch of the most Ancient and distinguished family in this County, he yet passed many years of honourable life in the service of the late Author Kelly, of Kelly, Esq. by whom, by that Gent. deceased Son, and by the present worthy representative of that other ancient family, the deceased was greatly esteemed. His great ancestor first settled in this county, Anno 1100, at Halwell or Holwell in the parish of Whitchurch, and for a long period his Successors were of the first political distinction, Judges, Serjeants at Law, Sheriffs of the County, and a speaker of the House of Commons, having sprung from this Illustrious House. It would be painful, but eminently instructive to trace the decline and fall of so much greatness, the ancient seat of the family, Holwell was the birth place of the deceased Mr. Glanville, but it never was his possession, the cause for which is impalable to those who preceded him. The family seat it appears was the last Remnant of the great possessions constituating the family estate, which descended to his father.
He was buried on 23 March 1830 at Kelly, DEV, ENG, John Glanville, abode Kelly Mill, recorded age 60.
