Personal Details: Maurice was the youngest son of Percy Turner and Ethel Frances Glanville. His father was a Sharebroker with an office in Empire Street (in 1941 at least). He had been educated at Cambridge Primary for a time, and then in Auckland. Maurice was the brother-in-law of another Cambridge airman, Jim Miller. He also had several brothers in the Army.
Service Details: Maurice served in the Pacific Islands continuously for 21 months, before returning home to Cambridge in late March or early April 1944 (reported 3rd of April 1944 in the Waikato Independent). Maurice had a bad time in the RNZAF, becoming ill in the Pacific with sickness that lingered long into his life. His experiences of his time at the front were not pleasant and he never really got over it, so he never spoke of his RNZAF career to family.
Details of Death: Maurice died at Mount Albert, Auckland, from heart disease in 1989
