DEATH OF MR. H GLANVILL
SAW SIXTY-TWO DERBIES
The death of Mr. Henry Glanville, of Anyards-road, Cobham, took place suddenly on Tuesday night at the age of 73. Mr. Glanvill, who had recently returned from a holiday, was apparently in his usual health until Tuesday evening, when he complained of feeling unwell. He retired to rest, and died suddenly about ten o'clock.
Mr. Glanvill was a well-known figure in the village, and his genial personality will be much missed. He had seen the Derby run on sixty-two occasions, having first witnessed it sixty-fours years ago. Mr. Glanvill, who retired from business some thirteen years ago was for 33 years the licensee of the Fox and Hounds, and his father kept the Crown Inn - now closed - for nearly half a century. In his younger days Mr. Glanvill was a prominent cricketer, and for many years assisted the Cobham Village Club, afterwards acting as umpire.
His estate was probated on 18 October 1913 indexed as:
